Farewell, Ray Bradbury

"This is The Man. He is the true son of Hal Foster." - Ray Bradbury, about me. Foster was the creator of PRINCE VALIANT, and from childhood on, Ray's favorite writer/illustrator. No father could have spoken any prouder words to a son, and it meant the world to me to receive them. They mean even more now. And they'll mean even more tomorrow. God protect your rocket, Ray, on this new magnificent flight. I am heartbroken with joy to have known you as I did, and I will love you forever.

This year I've "lost" two of the men who influenced me most as a teenager. Ray Bradbury and Moebius.

You were really blessed to have a mentor like him. I feel your pain.

*more hugs just for you*

There are so many of his stories and books I need to read.

Not even the banality of my 8th grade English class could render Farenheit 451 banal and trite.

How lucky you were to have not only met him, but to have had his friendship and regard, and you have my deepest sympathy.

91 years was not enough.

Ray Bradbury
I have never met my favortie author but my wife did in 1977 when her brother was running a SCI-FI/Fantasy Convention in Tucson and Bradbury was there. Your words and those of the others are true and heartwarming. Thank you
Duane
