Make haste, make haste

  • Apr. 25th, 2008 at 8:21 AM

So, hurrying out the door (a bit like the fellow in the illustration below) on my way to the LA Times Book Festival at UCLA. I'm signing at 12:30 Saturday at the Simon & Schuster booth. If you're in the vicinity, come by and say hello!

Oh my gosh, only one picture left, and then the wait starts for October 21st ... without new eyecandy teasers ... *sigh*

But I think I can still spend some hours marveling at the wonderful richness of detail that you put into each and every one of your pictures, James ...

Oops! I gotta stop staring for a sec in order to post this comm- ... hmmm ... post ... hmmmmm ...

Oh, there's more eye candy coming, never fear...

Love the detail on this! That arch! And the flowers in the foreground are wonderful. (I think JRRT would approve of them.)

Safe travels! And see you amongst the books!

My bro Jeremy pencilled the arch (a real architectural detail) from really lousy reference photos. It turned out nicely.

See you a bit later!

My compliments to Jeremy for the pencil job, then.

Okay, and yes, you do a wonderful job inking it, too! :-)

I think you have a perfect representation of an early spring day...the sky, the daffodils in the foreground, and the just budding trees in the back ground.

Actually, I'd just been thinking about some new pieces I'd wanted to draw that you would fit in very well.

I used my friend maddie (lj name madolan) as a model for a comics story a couple of years ago. You'd be in great company! :)
