Things seen and unseen

  • Apr. 24th, 2008 at 2:04 PM

I posted a slightly different version of this illustration back when it was the cover art (which it no longer is, having been replaced by one that's more dragon-y). The proportions for a cover are different than the interiors, so the upper part had to be redrawn to make it a better fit for a chapter illo.

This is, to me, THE pivotal scene of the entire book.

Oh, pooh! I loved the colored version of this! It was very evocative of ... well, longing, and a bit of melancholy. Um... well, still is, actually, but the color added just a touch more.

Still love it, though.

I feel terrible for saying this, but when one has such stunning art on display, things that seem to be errors stand out all the more: is the reflection of the tower upon the water supposed to misalign?

This is absolutely beautiful. I certainly would be swayed to read the book from this illo alone.

I love the wood cut look of your works; really enjoying perusing your LJ this evening.

Have a great weekend at the bookfest.

Beautiful. . .

This is one of my favorites of yours, and I've seen a lot.

Well, I'll say it. I think this makes a GREAT cover, AND I also loved the simpler, less rendered, version you originally did. I love this one too! :o)

We'll probably do a color print of it, since there's a different cover now. Too nice not to use, y'know?
