I wasn't entirely satisfied with the cover for Cat and Jeff's book. I redid the colors over the course of a week - and still was a little off-kilter over it. The image was nice (and story appropriate), the colors respectable, and the design solid. But it just missed the mark.
So, I asked Jeff if there was time to add something to the cover - and last Thursday night, I did a new illustration (also story-specific), and had Jeremy insert it to the cover (which got an enthusiastic reply from Jeff!).
There's no problem with a James Owen cover that can't be solved by adding ten thousand tiny lines.

I've been uber-slammed lately. Finished the cover above at 3am Friday; met with Jeremy to do layouts o it at 7; left at 9 to go to Phoenix for a tv interview at 1 (after a three hour drive there); then had to meet up with the sheriff's department about my stolen stuff; then a business meeting at 4; then a dinner meeting at 6.
THEN the actual bookstore event Saturday.
But I'm generally paying attention, Lau!
I was worried there for a minute, I must admit. I was thinking, this is, unquestionably a James/Jeremy piece of art, but something is missing. . .
Of course I'm going to scour it for the "S" cameo. :o)
You're starting make me think that if it had been you creating the world ... it wouldn't be done yet! ;)
But you're right, of course. This is even better than where you started.
(And I shall now flit away again - I have no idea whether I'll be online again before I get home Sunday. Say! Did the pirate-map session go well? Any fun stories?)
